Here are some tips on getting the
most from a lawyer for your fee dollar. They are intended to minimize
our work time and should result in lower cost and better service to you,
the client.

Be
Organized - Think about what it is you really want to
accomplish before calling your attorney. What are your priorities?
Your bottom line goals? When you call or make an appointment, make
notes of what you want to discuss. Try to help organize written
materials so as to make our job easier. This will save us time and
save you money.

Telephone
Calls - Because much of our time is spent in the giving of
advice, more often than not by telephone, we must charge for our
time talking with you by phone. This does not mean that we are
going to charge you for a discussion about a recent Steelers game
or the like, but remember that a lawyer's time and ability are the
basis of his or her livelihood. The less of our time you use, the
smaller your bill will be.

An
Ounce of Prevention - The most productive use of an attorney
is to allow him or her to review important agreements and
documents before you sign them and to discuss important decisions
before you commit yourself. In the long run, the cost of using an
attorney to prevent legal problems is far less than the
cost of fixing them. Preventive legal advice and constructive
planning are the best use of our time in terms of productivity.
This approach reflects our collective character as a law firm
which has changed from primarily a trial firm to one concentrating
on planning and advice. We feel very confident that our role as
estate planners for families and their businesses is a productive
one in our society. |
